Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

This day is set aside to commemorate a leader among people
who changed a nation and won the

                                                 Nobel Peace Prize.
Dr. Martin Luter King Jr. was a Baptist  minister
who believed he could help change the black people's role in the American society.
Up until this time black people were expected to only sit, eat, ride and live in certain areas.
People of color had difficulty finding work.

King did this by encouraging black people
to march, boycott and show the nation through  peaceful means
that black people were discriminated against because of the color of their skin.

He gave a famous speech in Washington DC on the mall called

           "I Have A Dream"

where he dreamed of a day when people would be judged by the
        "Content of Their Character"

                  He preached racial equality.    .

Dr. Martin Luther King  made a significant difference
        and Civil Right Laws
were enacted to make sure people of color were treated with consideration and respect.

He was assassinated by his enemies on April 4, 1968.

It did not stop a movement
to advance minorities in the American Society.

His nation remembers him with respect on this day.
