  I hope everyone had a restful winter break.

The holiday in January is Monday, January 18.
We will not have school because

it was declared a holiday in 1986 to remember
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
a pioneer in promoting Civil Rights for people of color.


My  1st grade - 5th grade students will be working in Finish Line this month
 ( good samples of what the children will be seeing on their required test from DESE)
(Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education ) 
Apparently there was some difficulty with the vendor so the books could not be ordered.
I will send home some information for this.  Please look for it.

TESTING
ACCESS WINDOW
January 19-February 19

I  will be giving a test called ACCESS.  It has been adopted by the state of Missouri and has been developed by the WIDA Consortium.  Twenty two states have joined the Consortium.  It tests Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in the areas of Communication Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science.

this year
The reading, listening and speaking and writing test will be given on a computer for grades 4 and 5.

1st-3rd grade will take all the tests except writing on the computer.  They will have a paper pencil test for writing.

Kindergarten will take a pencil paper paper test in reading, writing, listening and speaking as usual.

They will be tested over their old sight words and farm vocabulary.

Always Remember to sit with your children while on the internet.
Sites sometimes change without my knowledge and sometimes links from other sites lead to inappropriate sites for children.
